Well, it seems that despite all attempts to stop time, the holidays continue to bear down upon me with the strength and force of a freight train. And with it, all the parties, treats, and more parties and treats. Oh, and drinks. They’re not particularly good for you either. If you haven’t started by now, but are thinking to start working out in the New Year, Make the decision to do it, and stick to it. (I know, easier said than done!) BUT, if you want to take some of the pressure off of the New Year’s Resolution, there’s still time to get started now.
I think most of us have a tendency to say, “why would I start now, right before I eat and drink at all these parties, family functions, etc.?” But if you look at from another perspective, how much better is it to just jump in and start NOW, rather than weight, oh, excuse me- wait, till you’ve already done the holiday damage…
Despite the fact that we’ve gone through Thanksgiving, and numerous crazy events and a daily schedule that is almost crushing sometimes, I’ve managed to lose (with my knee injury) just around 3 pounds (which I’m frankly NOT thrilled about), BUT I have lost 5 (yes FIVE) inches in my waist…and I feel pretty good about that. Even if I don’t lose a ton of weight, I’m not gaining over the holidays. Frankly, I think that’s probably a first.
So don’t wait- whatever you do, do something- even if you can’t get to boot camp (with the holidays, school’s out, etc) until after the new year, make the commitment to start today- do something. Go for a walk, dance for an hour, just DO something. Don’t put it off another day, then if you want to make it a New Year’s resolution, you’re not setting yourself up for so much pressure. Just my two cents!
